The Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s (PFP) mission is to support and enhance lives of people with Parkinson’s, their care partners and families to achieve their highest possible quality of life through awareness, education, and programs within a caring community.
After more than 20 years as a player in the NHL and coach for the Portland Winter Hawks and Nashville Predators, Brent Peterson was forced to retire due to the advancement of Parkinson’s Disease (PD). In 2009, Brent Peterson started the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s (PFP). In subsequent years, he underwent the radical Deep Brain Stimulation procedure and later released My Toughest Faceoff, an autobiography detailing his career and battle with Parkinson’s. Today he leads PFP in the continued fight to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s.
